Your Entry Point to Gen 5 Storage Speed

A 1TB PCIe 5.0 SSD is the most affordable way to experience next-generation NVMe performance. You get the same 14,000 MB/s read speed as larger Gen 5 drives with a lower upfront cost. It works as a fast boot drive, a dedicated project drive, or the foundation of a high-performance workstation.

  • Same peak sequential speed as 2TB and 4TB Gen 5 models at a lower price
  • Ideal as a dedicated OS and application boot drive paired with larger storage
  • Strong fit for workstations that need fast scratch disk performance
  • Nearly 2x the sequential bandwidth of the fastest Gen 4 drives
  • TLC NAND ensures consistent write speeds under sustained workloads

KingSpec PCIe 5.0 Drives at the 1TB Tier

Both KingSpec Gen 5 product lines are available at 1TB, giving you a choice between flagship and value performance.

VP14000 for Absolute Top Speed

14,000 MB/s Read · Built-In Heatsink

The VP14000 at 1TB delivers the full Gen 5 speed experience with an eight-channel controller and NVMe 2.0. Ships with an integrated heatsink so you do not need to buy one separately. Designed for demanding professional and AI workloads.

X500 for Smart Gen 5 Adoption

DRAM Cache · Graphene Copper Cooling

The X500 at 1TB offers excellent Gen 5 read and write speeds with an independent DRAM cache for responsive random IO. Graphene-infused copper foil dissipates heat without adding bulk. A strong choice for enthusiast builders who want Gen 5 at the best price.

When 1TB Gen 5 Makes More Sense Than 2TB Gen 4

If you already have a secondary storage drive and just need the fastest possible boot and application drive, a 1TB PCIe 5.0 SSD paired with a larger Gen 4 data drive can outperform a single 2TB Gen 4 setup.

  • Boot and launch apps from Gen 5 speed while storing games on a Gen 4 secondary
  • Use as a fast scratch disk for video editing and 3D rendering projects
  • Content creators benefit from the faster import and export speeds on the Gen 5 drive
  • Pair with a 2TB or 4TB Gen 4 drive for the best of both worlds

Frequently Asked Questions About 1TB PCIe 5.0 SSD

Is 1TB enough for a PCIe 5.0 SSD?

It depends on how you plan to use it. As a dedicated boot and application drive, 1TB is plenty. If you want a single drive for everything including a large game library, 2TB or 4TB is a better fit. Many power users pair a 1TB Gen 5 boot drive with a larger Gen 4 storage drive for the best value.

Should I buy a 1TB Gen 5 or a 2TB Gen 4?

For gaming and general use, a 2TB Gen 4 offers better value. You get double the capacity at a similar price, and game load times are nearly identical. Choose the 1TB Gen 5 if you have specific professional workloads that benefit from higher sequential bandwidth, or if you already have a secondary data drive.

What CPU and motherboard do I need for PCIe 5.0?

You need a PCIe 5.0 capable motherboard and CPU. Intel 12th Gen (Alder Lake) and newer support PCIe 5.0. AMD Ryzen 7000 series and newer also support it. Most boards have one Gen 5 M.2 slot, usually the top slot near the CPU socket. Check your motherboard manual before purchasing.

Will a PCIe 5.0 SSD work in my current PC?

If your motherboard has an M.2 NVMe slot, the drive will physically fit and work. However, if the slot is Gen 3 or Gen 4, the drive will run at that slower speed. You only get full Gen 5 performance from a Gen 5 slot. Installing a Gen 5 drive in an older slot is safe but not cost-effective.

How much faster is PCIe 5.0 compared to PCIe 4.0?

PCIe 5.0 roughly doubles the sequential bandwidth of PCIe 4.0. Top Gen 4 drives reach about 7,400 MB/s for reads, while Gen 5 drives hit up to 14,000 MB/s. For large sequential file transfers, this means moving data in about half the time. Random IO performance differences are smaller.

Do KingSpec PCIe 5.0 SSDs come with a heatsink?

Yes. The VP14000 includes a built-in heatsink designed for sustained Gen 5 workloads. The X500 features graphene-infused copper cooling integrated into the drive body. Both solutions are designed to prevent thermal throttling without requiring additional aftermarket accessories.
